Lula Brings Poetry To Liverpool City Centre

Mums, OAPs and bums were in for a treat yesterday, as Lula brought poetry to the masses, reading at the Liverpool bandstand on Williamson Square.

Lula read several poems from her poetry pamphlet, ‘At 3 o’clock I think of sex and death’, which was published by Spike in 2009 and can be bought here (or at most Dirtblonde gigs!)

Perhaps not most people’s idea of light entertainment for a sticky Friday afternoon… but, well, art doesn’t have to always be “fun” does it?!

Lula ended her short poetry set reading ‘Badlands’, a poem inspired by the 1973 Terence Mallick’s film of the same name, which also features as bonus track on the cassette edition of Dirtblonde’s Brooklyn/White Horses single.

Other performers who graced the Liverpool Bandstand this Summer, included Shiverpool, Beach Skulls (who are playing with us next month) and… Ken Dodd.
